A floral ball made of preserved roses and preserved ivy leaves: an everlasting gift, a striking table decoration for an event, or a decorative piece to sell in a store. With pins and a little patience, you can make it in about thirty minutes. Feel free to change the flower and leaf colors to match your client’s palette.
Material
You will need:
– 8 preserved roses
– 6 preserved small roses
– 1 preserved ivy leaves bouquet
– Florist stem wire
– 8 flower holders or use the cross-wire technique
– Pins
– Styrofoam ball
– Floral foam sphere (diameter 6")
– Floral adhesive
– Some tools
Step 1
Draw a refined oval of 3" × 9" on the surface of the foam. Create this shape in the foam with a knife and a spoon.
Step 2
Cut the ivy leaves in half.
TIP: When cutting the ivy leaves in half, cut the center rib so that the leaf fits the foam ball.
Step 3
Cover the ball (except the sampled area) with the leaves and fix them with pins.
Step 4
Mount the mini roses on the technical wire, then flora tape them following the cross-wire technique. Do the same with the roses.
Step 5
Prick the varieties of roses and polystyrene balls into the sampled area in order to reconstitute the ball.
Where to use it
- Holidays: in red and gold, a rose ball makes a festive decoration for a hotel lobby or a store window.
- Weddings: hung above an aisle or placed on head tables, in white or blush.
- Retail: sold as a ready-made decorative object, it lasts for months with no care.
